I've been to Germany this week to meet potential Silver Tail customers. Germany has some fairly tough guidelines on personal data, and ensuring their citizens have privacy online, much tougher than most other parts of the world, including the Uk and USA. To the extent that IP address collection and usage is not allowed; prompting this idea - what value is an IP address today as an indicator of risk?

On a phone call a couple of weeks ago, Matt Harwood from Security Management Magazine proposed an interesting conundrum. If my software protects websites from having data scraped (and then exfiltrated) from them, isn't that both a good and a bad thing?

Another week goes by and another batch of passwords gets posted on the Internet. This week LinkedIn got hit and even Mitt Romney's personal email account was compromised by a hacker properly guessing his password reset questions.

Bummer.

I was both thrilled and humbled to see that Fast Company named me one of the Most Creative People in Business. Throughout my career I have had the benefit of working with some of the most amazing minds, whether that was in teaching me to think like a criminal, raising venture capital, or creating a product that protects billions of people online. And to see that I am being recognized with luminaries like Ben Horowitz and the founder of Hip Hop Public Health is incredible.
